You would not believe what I have done. Only a couple years ago, I started blogging on blogspot platform. As I have developed some blogging techniques, I no sooner learn that this is not the site for me. It is not a user-friendly ... cannot get things to line up and I am always guessing. So much time is wasted trying to figure out what I have done ..... So, I took the advise from Amy Celona, and I switched to WordPress. WYSIWYG. I love it. No more fooling around with codes that I don't understand ... uggh, so iritating when you don't have any blogging background.

I hope that when my designer website class come around in April, I hope to see more improvements. In the meantime, please visit me at http://stampersplus.wordpress.com/.

Easter just wouldn’t be the same without treats. In this month’s Easter Sweets and Treats class you’ll learn how to make these two cards and three adorable boxes - two of which can be used either as card boxes OR as treat boxes.

I will show you how to step your 6" x 6" scrapbook page up to an 8 1/2" x 11" page and then a 12" x 12" page - you could either have me demonstrate during the workshop - or actually use as a scrapbooking class

Our Stampanions Group challenged each of us to do a swap with new SETS in the current catalogue, using only current items and nothing else but Stampin'Up!. My new set is the Animal Cracker and the Sweet Always DP.

It was tough as I am not used to having/using limited supplies and I really don't have much. I always rely on my Nestabilities and Cuttlebug Embossing folders, and other non-Stampin'Up! products to create cards. And of course, this is my first swap within the group.

Boy, did I play and play and play. You should see my basket full of rejects. (LOL). All I can say is thank goodness that Stampin'Up! came up with the Circle Plus Cutter. I was able to create the circles using the Cutter Plus. Measurements were cut at 3 1/2" for the striped circle and 3 1/4" for the Pink Pirouette circle. The colors were so sweet and subtle, but the giraffe was missing something else. So I added a mane to the back of the giraffe's neck. I used the Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon, cut it in half, and frayed the threads off, and used 2-way glue to glue the ribbon down.

So what do you think? I passed? I sure hope so, as I had to make 12 of them and now they are ready for delivery.

He turned out really cute!

Watermark - Test

Here is my part two .... watermark. Yahoo. It matches my banner and thanks to Nancy for creating it! Although I don't have any cards to show, but I took a picture of my father-in-law during Christmas. This is breakfast at Corinna's house.

Nevertheless, I was playing with the frames and other neat tools with my photoshop (need to take a course on it so that I am not wasting so much time playing ... ugh!) Anyways, from now on, I hope to have my cards framed similar to this image.

New Look??

Good evening! I'm so excited that to share with you my new banner blog design today! So, any feedbacks? I know, I still have some tweeking to do but that will come in time. (LOL)

I wanted the design to be simple and airy but I cannot make ends with all those computer lingos and was very lost with the HTML and XML, etc., etc. After reading Taylored Expressions' blog I quickly emailed Nancy McKinney to see if you would design my blog. She was quite fast in responding and at her first stab, I was in love with the banner. She seems to know what you like and dislike.

Nancy is a freelance graphic designer. She is very easy going and is such a pleasure to work with. She is quite quick too!

If you like her work, Nancy would like to continue creating blog banners, sidebar labels, and watermarks. She asks that instead of the standard payment for services rendered, she will design your blog banner and a watermark in exchange for a minimum $50 donation to Sick Kids, Canadian Immunodeficiency Society, Starlight Foundation, or a children's hospital in your area. Nancy's son, Henri, made an amazing recovery from a bone marrow transplant and an underlying immune disease with much thanks to Sick Kids. Now that Henri is better, Nancy is hoping to be able to raise some money for Sick Kids and other organizations who help children with similar diseases. It is a good cause, and you will understand when you have kids.

I can relate ... although my boys are not sick, my oldest, Ryan (13 years old then), had been admitted to Children's Hospital in Vancouver when he was struck by a car two years ago while crossing the cross-walk. The driver ran through a red light throwing Ryan 10 feet down the road. His head went through the windshield, and everybody could not believe that he survived the accident. The ambulance attendants, policemen and witnesses all said that it was impossible that he survived after seeing the impact of the windshield and the distance he was thrown. Luckily he has not sustained any head / spinal injuries ... however, he has suffered knee pains and his forehead is scarred. He will not be able to play sports like he used to and quite often he hides his scars. Any future damages is too early to tell as he is still growing. Children's Hospital had helped me cope with the anxieties and I always wondering what he is thinking or what is going to happen to him in the future. At the moment, I am blessed that he is still with me, so please help the Sick Kids.

Perfect DSP Bag / Update Wine & Cheese Celebration

Our Wine & Cheese party was a blast. The girls made a make n take using the Just Buzzin’ By and learn how to use their aqua painters with our watercolor papers.

Here is what they did as a make n take.

The supplies we used are listed below - all supplies are Stampin’ Up!

Stamps: Just Buzzin’ By, On Your Birthday
Ink: Ruby Red, More Mustard, Basic Brown
Paper: Ruby Red, More Mustard, Whisper White, Watercolor Paper, Basic Black
Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Silver Brads, Dimensionals, Texturz Plates, 2-way glue, Sponge

Because of the size of clientelles I had, they were split into two smaller groups to get full personal attention versus one large group. My sister-in-law, Corinna was kind enough to give me a hand with this. Once she learned how to create the make n take, she took off teaching the two groups like flying colors.

While one group was with Corinna, I took the other group and demonstrated how to use the Circle Scissors plus with the Cutter Mat. It was pretty amazing and I know this will be on their wish list.

The second demonstration was creating a Perfect Bag using two 12 x 12 designer papers, ribbons, crop-a-dile, and the jumbo eyelets. They were amazed and have requested instructions. If you want to see how it is done, please read further.

The supplies I used are listed below - all supplies are Stampin’ Up!

Paper: Designer Paper
Accessories: Grossgrain Kiwi Kiss Striped Ribbon, Jumbo Eyelets, Crop-A-Dile, Sticky Strips,

1. Take two 12 x 12 designer papers with the same pattern and score at 2" on three sides. With the fourth side, score at 1 1/2". This will be your the top side. At this point, if you want to decorate your top side, you can use your scalloped edge punch to make scallop edges.

2. Fold and crease the top 1 1/2" of both 12 x 12 sheets to the front side of your designer series paper (note below that the front side is my striped paper and I have folded that to the front and using sticky strips to adhered it down)

3. Now crease all score lines.

4. Next put sticky tape on one side as below.

5. Adhere both pieces together on this side.

6. Then put sticky strip on other side - making sure your seams are facing the same direction (back of box).

7. Turn it bottom side up and fold in both sides (as if folding a gift package).

8. Place Sticky Strip on the edge you have made and fold over to finish bottom of box.

9. The bottom of your box should look like this.

10. Using your Crop-A-Dile make holes with the 3/16" hold puncher and set your jumbo eyelets two on each side. Cut 17" (2x) ribbons for handles.

12. Add some tissue paper and you have your Perfect Bag.

Here are some other dimensions.

1. 9 x 7 (first measurement will always be horizontal). Score all 4 sides at 1". Finished measurement is 7" x 5" x 1". Excellent for small photo albums.

2. 9" x 9". Score all four sides at 1". Finished measurements are 7" x 7" x 1". Excellent for CD sets.

3. 8" x 5". Score three sides 1 1/2" and top side 1". Finished measurements of bag are 5" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2". Perfect for small gifts.

4. You can increase the width of the bag by 1/2" by adding 1" to the horizontal measurements and scoring at 1 1/2" instead of 1".

I Love Much You Bundle Class

I had two classes just last past week. One on Friday, January 16 and one on Saturday, January 17. The girls and little Messr. Nicholas had such a blast making these cute cards/tags and coordinating case to hold them all. They were so impressed, that they would definitely make it again! What really fascinated me was that Messr. Nicholas who is 6 years old, and when I showed him the sample cards, without going into details, he was already piecing the cards together before I can explain the steps.

You see ladies, if my youngest client is 6 years old, you can do it too! Want to learn more, please contact me any time.

NB: I must thank my friend, Diana Crick for inventing the Scor-Pal. Without it, I would have not been able to create 10 pre-packages for my clients to make the case. I had a stampers 101 bootcamp class just this pass weekend for all the ladies who are new to stamping and this is what we made. Handouts were given, and I taught them how to watercolor with SU reinkers using our aquapainter. The file holder holds three of these cute little note cards as well as mini envelopes. The "notes" was generated on a computer, printed on labels and adhered to the cardstock.

"Judo"
August 1996 - December 2008

I want to take a moment to post this last picture of our beloved dog, Judo, who keeps us hopping from time to time.

He had a great personality and character, and just loves to talk to you. He snuggles in when you are sad, and somehow he seems to know that something is wrong.

Judo was a great family pet. He certainly had extended his 9 lives. For those who did not know him, Judo quite often would get out of the yard and take himself for extended walks. He will only return when he is hungry or tired (ie-10 hours away from home). Judo had been caught by the pound 2x at Trout Lake and had never returned there.

Judo had been suffering from a rapid tumor in his right hind leg. When we took him to the vet, we were advised that the surgery may traumatize him due to his age (12 years). We did not want to risk that and at the same time, the tumor may come back again.

Due to the 3 feet of snowfall we had in Vancouver in the last few weeks, the coldness had taken a tole on him immediately. He was urinating blood and just could not get up. We knew immediately that it was time to let him go. Hence Judo passed away on December 31, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. May he rest in peace. He will be greatly missed!

Spinner Card

Stamps: Many Merry Messages, Snow Jumbo Wheel

Cardstock: Bashful Blue – Base Card: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2; Panel: 2-1/2 x 5-1/8, Whisper White –Base Card: 3-3/4 x 5; Panel: 2-1/4 x 5-1/8, Night of Navy – Base Card: 3-7/8 x 5-1/8; Panel: 2-3/8 x 5-1/8

Ink: Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Versamark, Glue Pad

Accessories: Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Sissix Snowflake Die, Bashful Blue grosgrain ribbon, 2 pennies, Word Window Punch, Clear Embossing Powder, Dimensional Pop Dot, 1” round circle, Dazzling Diamond Glitter, Glue Dots, Silver Brad

Base Card:

Using your bone folder, fold your base card piece CS in half. Take your whisper white base card CS and run it through the Snowflake embossing folder. Tape the embossed image onto night of navy base card CS, and then to the bashful blue base card.

Panel:

Trace the spinner card template onto the whisper white panel CS. Using the Word Window Punch, align the window punch with the traced pattern, and punch out. Ink the Snow Jumbo Wheel in night of navy ink and roll it onto your whisper white panel CS. Ink the snowflake stamp in versamark ink and then onto your 2 ¼” x 5-1/8” piece of whisper white panel CS. Repeat until you have the desired amount of snowflakes. Apply clear embossing powder. Shake off excess and apply heat. Sponge your versamark images with bashful blue ink. Where you have versamarked, your image will pop out.

Add dimensional dots around the window. Adhere to the night of navy panel cardstock. Adhere to the bashful blue cardstock. Ink Merry Christmas on white craft ink, and stamp image through the window punch. Add a ribbon on the left side. Adhere to the base card CS.

Snowflake:

Take the Sissix die cut snowflake and apply it onto the glue pad. Cover it in dazzling diamond glitter, shake off excess and set aside. Punch 2 round circles in bashful blue cardstock. Apply 1 blue circle to the snowflake on centre. Add a silver brad. Tape it onto the 1 penny. Add dimensional on center of the penny. Align the other penny. Place it into the word window punch.

Shaker Card

Stamps: It’s Snow Time, Rivet (retired)

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip Brown – 5-1/2 x 4-1/4; rectangle nestibilities, Sage Shadow – 3-7/8 x 5-1/8; 3-3/4 x 2-7/8, Acetate – 3-3/4 x 2-7/8, Whisper White – remnants, 3-3/4 x 5

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories: Snowflake Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Sissix Snowflake Die, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Acetate (Window sheet or other acetate such as overhead transparencies, a little bit (1/8") smaller then your frame), Copic Markers, Rectangular Scallop Nestabilities, Rectangular Nestabilities, Glass beads, Foam Tape

Base Card:

Using your bone folder, fold your 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of Chocolate Chip CS in half. Set aside. Take your whisper white base CS run it through the Snowflake embossing folder. Tape the embossed piece onto the sage green CS. Wrap ribbon around the sage/white CS. Adhere to the base card.

Panel:

Run the sage shadow CS panel through the snowflake embossing folder. Stamp your image and color as needed. Stamp snowflake randomly with staz-on white on your acetate. Tape your acetate piece onto the back side of the sage green CS panel. Place mounting tape all around your window and ensure you have no gaps so the mix cannot get out of the shaker later. Add glass beads. Remove foam strip. Add your stamped image. Tape the panel to the scallop rectangle. Tape the panel to your base card. Add snowflake accent.

Acetate Card

Stamps: Punch Pals, snowflake (retired)

Cardstock: Bashful Blue – 6-1/2 x 11”, scored at 5-1/2”, Artichoke Green– remnants, Whisper White – remnants

Ink: Basic Black, White Staz-On

Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, 2-way glue, Copic markers, silver cord, Scallop edge

Base Card:

Take the scallop edge punch and punch one end only (short edge). Fold on scored line. Stamp your acetate sheet with Staz-On. Attach it to the underside of your fold. Your base card is now complete. Wrap silver around the scalloped panel twice, and tie a knot.

Base Card (inside):

Take your remnant white, and rip them into two sizes. Take your 2-way glue and apply on the ripped edges. Dip the ripped edges in dazzling diamond. Tape your snow banks on the inside panel. Stamp trees and color. Stamp penguins, color and cut. Pop dot them.

The last Holiday Workshop #4 is ready for your view. Class fee is $56.00, all materials included except for double-sided tape (please bring enough for all 14 cards). This is a special gift to give away to that someone special or to those who are hard-to-shop for. It holds 8- A2 cards and envelopes, 6- 3x3 notes cards and envelopes, a place to put your postage stamps and tags. It comes with matching gel pen with a covered 3x3 post-it note pad to write your notes in.

What will I do as a demonstrator?

You will share your love of creating cards, gifts and/or scrapbook pages with family and friends through sharing one-on-one, doing in-home workshops, classes and/or other events. If you choose to, you will also help others enjoy the fun and flexibility of running their own Stampin’ Up! business.

Will I receive support and training as a demonstrator?

By joining, you will become part of my team, and I’ll provide you with all the help and support you need — but I will never push or pressure you to do more than you desire. Whether your goals are to just support your stamping habit, or you want to build a successful business, I am here to help. I maintain a team website (www.pacificcoast.blogspot.com) with events and training opportunities as well as provide phone support. There is a password protected area where I share my classes and business resources as well. I will be here for you at all times – all you have to do is call or email me!

On top of that, Stampin’ Up! provides the following:

How will I make money as a demonstrator?

Since customers pay you directly, you will keep 20% of each order placed at the time of their payment. You can earn additional money (up to 20%) through volume rebates when your monthly sales are $525 and above. If you build a team, you can also earn monthly downline overrides.

Do people really make money at this?

YES!! Depending on how much time you want to put into “your” business, you can make whatever income you desire! It is totally up to you!

Do I have to recruit other demonstrators?

Of course not!! Having a downline is not a requirement, it is a perk - we have the opportunity to earn a commission based on our downline’s sales!

What are the minimum sales requirements?

To stay active as a demonstrator you will need to sell a minimum of $400 per quarter. Most demonstrators find that this goal can be reached in one or two workshops per quarter, or with their own purchases.

What if I only want to do this as a hobby? Do I still have to do workshops?

Absolutely not!! Stampin’ Up! supports the hobby demonstrator just like the career demonstrator. You can put in your own order or collect orders from family & friends that equal $400 a quarter.

Do I have to stock product?

No. You will only order items when someone places an order and pays you in advance, so you won’t need to keep inventory of products.

How much does it cost to get started?

The Starter Kit is only $249 plus tax. This kit is customizable (choose your own sets at stated price points and you may change some accessory colors) for a total of $400 in product for only $249. It includes everything you will need to get your business up and running—including stamps and accessories as well as business supplies.

What if I decide it’s not for me once I’ve started? Will I be penalized if I quit?

You simply stop placing orders. If you don’t meet the minimum requirement, Stampin’ Up! will just “drop” you—no penalties, no questions asked! But I guarantee that once you start, you won't want to stop!!

What kind of incentives will I receive as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

There are so many perks with this business that I don’t know where to start! Here are just a few:

As a new demonstrator, you will have the opportunity to earn up to 9 free stamp sets during your first 6 months for your sales and recruiting.

30% commission on your first workshop order of $200 or more, if you place it within 60 days of signing up.

The opportunity to earn new stamp set during "Sale-a-Bration".

The ability to be your own “hostess” and earn free hostess sets and merchandise on your own personal orders.

You can earn free catalog product, logo merchandise and supply items depending upon your sales.

Where do I get ideas for my workshops?

Stampin’ Up! has many resources for demonstrators, including the Idea Book & Catalog, a great monthly magazine, a fantastic website for demonstrators only, a wonderful video in the starter kit, and much more. I also post my workshop cards on our team website and blog. It is OKAY to copy projects from these resources—that is what they are for! You don’t have to ever think of an original idea if you don’t want to.

Do I have to attend meetings?

There is always something going on on our team website which include a combination of business and stamping events which are completely optional, but a lot of fun if you choose to come!

Are there any Stampin’ Up! events that I can attend as a new demonstrator?

Yes, and they are a blast! Every year in July there is the annual convention in Salt Lake City. Imagine several thousand crazy stampers in one place for 4 days! There are also regional training events throughout the country each year, and local events organized BY Stampin’ Up! demonstrators FOR Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.

Do you really love what you do?

I absolutely LOVE what I do and I know you will, too. One of the reasons I love it so much is because of the friendships I have made. Some of my best friends are demonstrators who I would not have met if it were not for Stampin’ Up! This is just the best job in the entire world!!!!

At last you all have been waiting for ... my November 2008 Holiday Workshop #3. I have now opened up 3 different time classes. All you need to do is just pick the night / day you wish to attend. This will RSVP your spot immediately. Cost is $25.00 which includes all your materials and you will make two of each designs. Please bring double-sided tape, 4 pennies, and a bone folder.

CARD 1 - Spinner & Emboss Resist Techniques

There are two techniques to this particular card. The snowflake is covered in dazzling diamond and it spins across the card. The back panel is using the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder.

CARD 2 - Shaker Card Technique

This is a non-traditional Christmas Card. Thought I try something different rather than the traditional white, green and red.

Recipe

Cardstock: chocolate chip brown, sage green, whisper white
Accessories: Wide chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, Snowflake Embossing folder, Sissix Snowflake, Acetate, Glass Beads, Nestabilities Scalloped Rectangle

Card 3 - Acetate Card

I thought I would teach this as I know you die-hard card makers are always looking for challenges. The front is made from clear acetate which is randomly stamped with white staz-on snowflakes. The trick is not to press too hard otherwise, your image will slip away.

The snowbank is made from paper ripping and covered with dazzling diamonds. We will be working with the 2-way glue and dazzling diamonds again.

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Artichoke Green, Acetate
Ink: Basic Black

I had to prepare something fast for my nephew's 7th birthday. This idea came about when I heard that his mom was giving fighting fish out as a goodie bag ... AWESOME GOODIE BAG ... all the little kids love them!

I lucked out because to be honest with you, I did not know how old he was turning (what a bad aunt I am). It just so happen that I added the right amount of fishies below, and the seventh is the main fish in the port hole. I added glass beads inside so that it looks like sand.

Punch the following CS using these punches

1 3/4 circle punch - 1 x chocolate chip brown cs
scallop punch - 2 x close to cocoa cs
boho blossom punch - 2 x pumpkin pie cs
round tab punch - 1 x chocolate chip brown cs
3/4" circle punch - 2 x creamy caramel cs
1/2" circle punch - 2 x whisper white cs
1/4" circle punch - 2 x black cs

Assembly of the Head, Eyes and Beak in this order:
round tab punch
3/4" circle punch
1/2" circle punch
1/4" circle punch

Take your second larges flower from the boho punch and cut out only petal out to form the beak.

Owl's wings:
Cut 2 wings out from the scallop punch. Add a small amount of adhesive on the back of the scallop punch out. Tape them to a scrap piece of paper. Take your large oval punch, and align it so that you have some scallops showing. Assemble it to the round 1 3/4" chocolate chip circle.

Assemble the owl's head to the body.

Owl's feet:
take the two boho flower punch, tape it to the back of the owl's body, leaving 3 petals showing.

Post it Note & Pen Holder

Post it note & pen holder .. Super easy and a really fun project to make. I want to let you also know that these small gel pens can be found at any office supply store, I got mine at the $$ store, but it can be purchased at Staples.

7 3/8" X 3 1/4 " - Whisper white base . Scored at 3 1/8, 3 1/2 & 3 7/8. Stamp as desired or add SU designer paper to the 3 1/8 side.

Fold all score lines, fold the middle score line in half. Take your scissors and make two slits across (about 1 1/4" from the ends) to the outside score line (this will hold your pen).

Cut two sticky strips, and apply it in the inside of your score lines (top and bottom of your slit). Fold that over and adhere it down. This will create the holder of your pen. Apply sticky strip to the back side of my post it notes to adhere inside the holder.

I cover my gel pen with matching designer paper and then beaded. So cute. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me.

October Holiday Workshop

I am so glad that I took this week off. I got to clean my stamping room, plus was able to play.

And YAHOO! I finally figured out my next Christmas Workshop (see pictures). Aren't they adorable! Cost is $20.00 which includes materials, except for your adhesive. You get to make 2 cards each, totaling of 6 cards, envelopes included. We will be using the Holiday Lineup (see page 36). Technique: Watercolor with aqua painters, label punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, large oval punch, photo corner punch, usage of marker pens, learn to tie ribbon, and play with my big shot

6th Annual BBQ

I just finished my 6th annual summer bbq for all my valued clientelles. As always, it was spectacular. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the weather held up during the afternoon. I could not believe how hot it was until I was demoing some of the new items from the 2008-2009 Fall catalogue ... the sweat just came pouring down.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures for you, but I have taken pictures of our make & takes. I provided 3 levels of stamping for my guests.

Here they are:

(beginner) This card was using the Bella Rosa DP with the mellow moss grossgrain ribbon. The only stamping that they used was the "The way to KNOW LIFE ...". Everyone finished this quite fast.

(intermediate) Stamps Embrace with Life. This we used the bala breeze paper, incorporating with the pacific point. This we water colored with aqua painters using the two incolors. Added a brad and dimensioned it.

(advance) Again, using the in color, Pacific Point, tangerine orange and DP. We used the sock monkey. This was quite difficult for most of them as they have indicated it too time consuming (cutting out), but still loved the idea of using the DP to cover the body.

The Sun is Shining

Happy May long weekend. Finally our sun is shining. It has been a long winter and now the heat is on.

This morning, my youngest son had a baseball tournament at Mount Seymour Park. They played against the Mount Seymour Blue Jays. Unfortunately they lost in the 6th inning. It was a sad lost as we only had 9 players to start off with, until one of the boys took an injury to his right ankle. Lets hope that he is ok, and it is just a sprain.

So in essence, every time his name came up, it was an automatic out, and our two outfielders took a beating.

Anyway, our schedule was filled with baseball, but my oldest son's game got canceled and our afternoon time became free, so I got to stamp. Yeah!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have not posted anything on this blog for a long while. I am in this chaotic work schedule mode and as well busy with the boys and their baseballs. Yes ... baseball season is here. Those who have kids, I am sure you can relate.

Anyhoo, I was working on this, and I thought I would post these cards and box. They make excellent gifts for teachers, moms, all those who love cards.

Instructions for the Sassy Stationary Stand can be found here. Excellent tutorial. The only thing I would change is that in Step 7, rather than going through all 4 layers of cardstock, I unfolded the card, and scored at 4" and 6", easier to go through one layer.

If you have not purchased your Scor-Pal, it is time to get it. My friend, Diana Crick, is the designer of this wonderful tool. Your "valley" and "mountain" folds are perfect every time. Creating boxes is a cinch!

The Cat's Meow (SC158)

COPIC is a fast drying, double-ended, non-toxic marker that comes in 310 colors. Copic Markers are refillable, non-toxic, fit into a special airbrush system, have replaceable nibs and are toner compatible.

The color-number system: ie - RO8, R stands for the color family Red (B-blue, NG-neutral gray, E-earth, etc.) The last number, 8 in this case, is how dark it is. So R59 would be darker than R08, but R08 would be darker than R20.

The middle number is the color tone or brightness/dullness. In the case of R08, it has a slight orange feel, but an R59 has almost a red-violet tint.

When shading an object, try to use two colors of the same color family, the lighter one for midtones and the darker one for shadows, with the last number 1-3 numbers different, and the middle number as close as possible, if not the same.

Although are quite pricey, they sure to do the job. All copic markers are refillable, hence the price. I recently purchased the starter (12 pack) copic markers just to give it a try and as well a SCS challenge. This is what I came up with.

This was so much fun, and I love the markers. The colors are so much brighter, and yes it matches SU colors.

I used B14 Light Blue: Ballet Blue and YR04 Orange: Only Orange, E08 Burnt Sienna, RO08 Vermellion, and B29 Ultramarine, for shading.

The Ballet Blue was cut 4.25 x 11. Fold in half, cutting 1.5 inches off one bottom. Designer paper was mounted on black cardstock and glued onto the base card. Add your image on the bottom.

I hope you all had a wonderful restful Christmas and as we begin a new year, many of us sit down, evaluate what we'd like to accomplish during the year, and then set goals. In fact, New Year's resolutions-and our subsequent inability to achieve them-is often the topic of jokes during this time of year.

Although New Year's resolutions may be more humorous than effective for some people, setting goals is actually a very effective way to help us identify what we want to focus on in our lives. Goals can also help us establish priorities.

The process of setting goals varies, depending on our personal preferences. Some people actually do set and achieve New Year's resolutions; other people set goals all year long. Some of us write our goals down and tape them to mirrors and other prominent places so we can be reminded of them. Others carry their written-down goals in their planners and refer to them as they plan their time. There are as many ways to set goals as there are people out there setting them!

One thing appears to be consistent -- a goal not written is only a dream. Actually writing down our goals does seem to play an important part in helping us achieve them. Another step that appears to be effective is sharing our goals with others, so we have someone to encourage us and to be accountable to.

Regardless of what works best for you, we encourage you to consider setting goals this year. If the New Year isn't the right time for you, identify a time that is. Your goals may be related to Stampin' Up!, or they may not. Whether they are professional or personal -- or both -- I wish you the best. Accomplishing goals provides an incredible sense of satisfaction, and I hope you are able to experience that feeling this year!

The Dormant List contains stamp sets that, while they have not been retired, will not be listed in the Spring/Summer Collection 2008. These sets are available for purchase from January 2, 2007 through June 30, 2008 and may or may not be listed again in future catalogues. Items from the Holiday Mini will not appear on the dormant list, but they are not retired. Items from a mini collection are considered to be current merchandise for a year -they may or may not appear in future publications.

Mini catalogue stamp sets and wheels will not be included on the dormant list.

The Retired Accessories List wil be out on December 10th. The accessories usually sell out rather quickly - so order those immediately if you want them. The stamp sets should be available all month, but it’s a good idea to go ahead and get your orders in ASAP with the holidays so quickly approaching. New catalogues will be revealed in January 2008.

Angel Policy Update

Stampin’ Up! Angel Policy Special– Starting November 15, there will be a change in the SU angel policy. It will now be permissible to sell your handcrafted items using Stampin’ Up! stamps and designer papers in fixed retail locations and on eBay. You are still required to have the SU copyright stamped on the items. In celebration of the new angel policy, I am discounting any of the appropriate copyright stamp sets (located on p. 152-3, 162) by 10% (15% for current club members) for the month of November.

SC139 - Snowman

I was so inspired by stampinat6213 at splitcoaststamper that I had to just case it. I did not have a Christmas tree so I used this cute little snowman from punch pals set.

The scarf was inspired when I saw people wearing their scarfs today on my way to work. I had to add it on my snowman as a last minute thing. He is so cute IRL.

Here is the recipe:
Stamp Sets: Baroque Motifs, Rivets, Punch Pals
Paper: Dashing Designer Paper, River Rock, Real Red, Old Olive, Vanilla, Whisper White
Inks: River Rock, Black, Old Olive,
Accessories: Real Red Grossgrain, Dimensionals

Sizes of Panels:
Panel #2
Using the dashing DP, cut 3 x 5.5 and lay it on the base card.

Ribbon
Using your sticky strips, place on the right edge of Panel #2. Then tie a knot on the ribbon and place it on the sticky strips.

Panel #3
Using another dashing DP pattern, cut 2 x 4, lay it on river rock cardstock and trim around using perfect layer at 1/16". Lay it on the base card lengthwise.

Panel #4a
Cut 2 x 3 on vanilla cardstock, stamp baroque motif with river rock ink and lay it on real red cardstock. Trim around using perfect layer at 1/16".

Stamp punch pals snowman on Panel #4a with black ink. Stamp the snowman from punch pals set on whisper white, color and trim. Tie a yarn around his neck. Place two dimensionals on the back and lay it over the vanilla cardstock.

Panel #4b
Punch old olive with 1 3/8" circle, punch river rock with 1 1/4" circle and layer it on top of old olive. Take your rivet stamp on real red ink onto whisper white, punch rivet with 1" circle and layer it over the river rock. Ink your rivet stamp on old olive ink onto whisper white and punch out the centre. I put a dimensional at the back and layered it in the centre.

I created this for Jordan's friend, Dylan, who just turned 12 today. I had some pictures left over from our Hawaii trip from last December (2006). It turned better than what I had anticipated. Father's Gift - Mini Album
I created this mini album for my DH's birthday to put on his desk. The card stock was cut to size, like a regular card (4.25 x 5.5), 3 times. With the designer paper, I cut 1 x 5.5 strip, folded in half and then add two cardstocks onto the strip, lining them on centre of th designer paper.

The origami shirts were folded using printed paper, and added it to the front of the card. Then using the round tag punch to secure the back and forming a mini booklet. Add a ribbon if you wish.

I had the boys write something for their dad.

World of Card Making Day

Christmas Cards

World Card Making Day was held on October 16, 2007, wherein I planned a Christmas Card making event (as suggested on their website). We had a GREAT time!

Each participant got a packet of supplies:

* Holiday Harmony double sided designer series paper
* Hand Selected Accents & Elements tin (self-adhesive die cuts)
* 1 roll of Pomegranate Double Stitched ribbon

Using their various family group paper supplies and their own double-sided and dimensional tapes, making any of the cards they wished to copy. Here are my samples that they could copy or use for inspiration. I will provide some measurements later. We made 30 cards in total.

Ink your lovely as a tree stamp set. Pour white embossing powder over, remove excess and heat. Ink your snowflakes with white craft and stamp background. Adhere the panel to whisper white and use 1/16" border (perfect layer).

Wheel your snowman and color with marker pens. Versamark entire panel, pour iridescent ice embossing powder, and heat. Rip above and below and adhere to main panel.

This is my flipflop album. I finally finished it last night, and it is in my scrapbooking collection.

What is a flipflop album? It is a mini album that can be used as a gift (... mini album as is), or placed on your scrapbook page. It fits about 15-20 pictures, depending on what you wish to add. Here is the front page. Rather than adding a ribbon, I added the star brads and a 3/4" circle so that there is no fussing about retying the ribbon back into its place. Just tuck.

◄ Unfortunately this picture did not turn out, I gave up after taking many pictures. The lighting is not the greatest but you can see that they are many hidden pages.

Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White

Accessories: White Craft Ink, White Embossing Powder, Double-Sided Tape, Silver Ink Pad, Silver Embossing Powder

Tools: Perfect Layers, x-acto knife, self adhesive mat, heat gun

Base Card:

Night of Navy (4.25 x 5.5)

Stamp in either order … using Night of Navy ink, stamp base card with print background stamp. Using Night of Navy ink again, stamp base card with canvas background stamp. This will be placed over top of print background stamp.

Powder the bottom of base card with embossing budding. Ink Merry Christmas stamp with white craft ink. Pour embossing powder over word. Heat set.

Panel Card:
Night of Navy (2 6/8 x 3 7/8)
Whisper White (trimmed with 1/16" using perfect layer)

Cover panel lightly with embossing buddy. Ink tree with white craft ink. Pour white embossing powder over tree. Heat set.
Ink outline tree with silver ink. Starting from the star, line your tree, and stamp over top of embossed tree. Pour silver embossing powder over tree. Heat set.
Using your double-sided tape, adhere to the white panel.
Trim, using 1/16" from your perfect layer.
Centre and adhere the completed panel card to your base card.

Voila, your done.

Journal Book + Coordinating Pen

Supplies

Paper: Wintergreen Designer Paper

Accessories: On Board Art Journal, Grossgrain, RSVP pen, Glass Beads, On Board Simon Lower, Spiral Punch, Perfect Layers, Xacto Knife, Sticky Strip Tape

I created this journal book hoping to do a class, but I am not so sure now as it took me couple tries to figure this out. I may rethink again. The end results came out better than what I had thought.

Here is the recipe ~
Outside: Tape/glue paper around the On Board Art Journal leaving excess paper hanging over the cover (this will be trimmed off, and wrapped around the journal). Repeat on the other side.

Taking your 1/2" perfect layer, trim around the journal (this gives an even boarder to wrap around the On Board). With the corners, using 1/16" perfect layer and cut at an angle. Tape the sides.

Tip: pull sides snug so that the journal cover is tight.

Inside: Using a different designer paper, take the spiral punch and punch 7.5 times. Measure your book, and cut to size (inner part). Tape down.

Spine: The spine is measured 8.25 x 4. Scored at 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, and 3.5. You should have 1" on each end. Tape the one inch end onto book. Repeat on the other side. Decorate your front cover. In this case, I covered the On Board Simon Lower with left over paper from the spine. Add grossgrain ribbons.

Pen: Using leftover paper, the paper is measured to its length, and cut at 7/8" wide. Remove the pen from the barrel, roll your paper length-wise, tuck the paper into the barrel, return your pen back into the barrel. Next, take your sticky tape, and wrap around the barrel of the pen. Roll into the glass beads until it covers the pen. Take your heat gun and heat the pen until the glass melts. Roll the pen in your hands ~ careful, it may be hot. (by heating, it melts the glass bead and will hold up to its usage).

Accordian Book

Cut your cardstock to the usual size as you would make a card (5.5 x 4.25). In this case, I used three full size card to make this accordian.

Take your designer paper, and cut three strips, 5.5 x 1, scoring at 1/2".

Butt your two ends together, and adhere your designer strip on the two ends of the cards. This will hold your two cardstock together, giving an accordian look. Repeat this for your next page.

At the back of the accordian, take your designer label punch and punch two labels from your designer paper. Adhere to the back, with equal spacing. This will hold your pages together to make a mini album. Design your cover, add your pictures, add your journals and place your accents. Voila, you now have an accordian book.
